Ernest Morató i Vigorós was born in Calella de Palafrugell on September 15, 1895. Barber of trade and convinced catalanist, from a very early age, he felt the worry of defending the interests of his people and his fishermen.
Once the Civil War finished, he was forced to go into exile to France. When he returned home, he felt to reborn his interest for the singing which he had inherited from his father, a great singer, and organised some choirs in Calella and in Palafrugell.
In 1966, he took part in the production of the book Calella de Palafrugell i les havaneres, and together with his companions founded the group Port Bo with which the Cantada d'Havaneres de Palafrugell began and he took part in it until 1980, near at the age of 83.
